The underlying process of molecular, cellular, and functional change that unfolds over time in the body. Biological age is one way researchers try to estimate where someone sits within that process.

Biological aging refers to the actual process of change that occurs across cells, tissues, and systems over time: inflammation, molecular damage, altered repair capacity, and shifts in resilience and function. It is broader than any one test or score.

Because the process is so complex, researchers often use biological age estimates as one lens onto it. But the estimate is not the same thing as the process itself.

This distinction matters most when test marketing becomes too confident. A biological-age result can be useful, but it should not be mistaken for a complete capture of biological aging.
